Teaching Physics Concepts Using Educational Robotics

This paper reports a study included in the national project PROMISE funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research. It examines the application of an educational robotics laboratory with secondary school students for learning concept about physics. In the paper we describe the didactic strategies that have been implemented during the activities and we give some qualitative outcomes related to effectiveness of the laboratory. Indeed we observed interesting results in students both in term of learning and of interest and participation. The importance of teacher involvement in this type of intervention will also be discussed.

Physics demos for all UVEG degrees: a unique project in Spain

Abstract The Physics Demo Project at the University of Valencia ( www.uv.es/fisicademos ) has developed a collection of physics demonstrations to be used during lectures. It consists of more than 130 experimental demos about different physics topics. More than 30 professors borrow them whenever they lecture on physics in any of our 40 courses in 17 different science or technical degrees, involving 246 ECTS and more than 3500 students. Recent studies have highlighted an alarming decline in young people’s interest towards the study of scientific subjects, often considered interesting but not easily understood and appreciated by students. Tässä pro gradu -tutkielmassa tutkittiin opiskelijan huomion kohdetta lukion fysiikan tunnilla. Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin, vastaako opiskelijan visuaalinen huomio opettajan antamia vihjeitä, kun opettaja opettaa luokassa yhteisesti simulaation avulla. Aineiston kerääminen toteutettiin Tobii Pro Glasses 2 -katseenseurantalaseilla ja SRI-haastattelun avulla ja datan analysointiin käytettiin Microsoft Excel -ohjelmistoa. Luotettavuuden arviointiin käytettiin vertauskoodausta. Tutkimustuloksena oli, että opiskelija seuraa opettajan antamia vihjeitä suurimman osan simulaatio-opetuksen ajasta. ¿Qué explica la Física sobre la influencia de la Luna en la Tierra? Una propuesta de enseñanza

En este trabajo se abordan ideas pseudocientíficas en torno a la influencia de la Luna en nuestro planeta. Para ello se analiza si los libros de Física de Bachillerato y de Educación Superior tratan la influencia de la gravedad de la Luna en la Tierra y cómo lo hacen. Para el análisis se utiliza una muestra de 17 libros de textos de Física de Bachillerato y 17 utilizados en cursos de ciencia e ingeniería (13 de Física, 2 de Óptica y 2 de Astronomía) de distintos años de publicación.
